Newlyn Art Gallery & The Exchange is one organisation with two contemporary art venues in Cornwall. Visitors can enjoy regularly changing exhibitions featuring regional, national, and international artists, alongside a vibrant calendar of events, activities, and educational opportunities.

Both venues have well-stocked shops, as well as cafés serving snacks and light lunches. Well-behaved dogs are welcome throughout most areas, though access to exhibition spaces may be restricted during certain times.

We are committed to inspiring and engaging young people aged 16–25. As part of our dedication to fostering creativity, we offer free entry for all under 25s, giving young visitors the opportunity to explore our exhibitions and develop their artistic interests. We also encourage young people to get involved behind the scenes. Whether you're looking to gain experience through school or college work placements or join us as a volunteer, we provide meaningful ways to develop skills, learn about the arts, and contribute to our vibrant community. Gallery Trail

The two venues are just a 2km walk apart, along the promenade between Newlyn and Penzance. Newlyn Art Gallery sits at the end of Newlyn Green as you approach from Penzance. The Exchange is just 600m from Penzance bus and train stations and the large harbour car park. Princes Street can be approached from either Market Jew Street or Chapel Street.

Buses run from the Greenmarket, Penzance to Newlyn every 15-30 minutes.

Getting to Cornwall

BY TRAIN

Train services run frequently from London Paddington to Penzance. There are also direct trains daily from Bath and Bristol to Cornwall and its branch lines.For more information visit www.nationalrail.co.uk or www.thetrainline.com

BY COACH

BY CAR

From the M5 join the A30 after Exeter. The A30 is the main road linking all of Cornwall and is mostly dual carriageway. Follow the A30 all the way to Penzance. There are several large, public, pay and display car parks in Penzance within walking distance of The Exchange. If you use the JustPark app you can make use of discounted day rates and park all day. From Penzance, follow signs to Newlyn. On entering Newlyn, drive past the gallery on your left, and follow signs to the public, pay and display car park.

Access

Newlyn Art Gallery and The Exchange are both fully accessible. Each venue has a parking bay for visitors with limited mobility. (Please phone ahead if you would like to use them so we can ensure they are kept free.) There is a lift at Newlyn Art Gallery to access the upper gallery and Studio. Well-behaved dogs are welcome at both venues, but may not be allowed into the main gallery spaces for certain exhibitions.

LESS BUSY VISITS

For anyone who would like to ensure a quieter visit with a maximum of ten people allowed in the gallery per hour, to cater for visitors with physical disabilities, or who are neurodivergent, and might appreciate more space and a less busy environment.
