Learning & Participation

Our Learning programme provides opportunities for everyone, to connect, discover, explore and make contemporary art both inside our spaces and out, in-person and online. Arts Council England’s seven Quality Principles are intrinsic to the delivery of our programme. This ensures that activity is excellent, authentic, inspiring and inclusive. Our team of experienced artist-educators are skilled in actively involving participants of all ages in process, ensuring a sense of ownership and enabling personal progression.

Newlyn Art Gallery and The Exchange offer accessible and inspiring spaces in which we invite all ages and backgrounds to spend time engaging with art, artists and ideas. Our newly redeveloped learning space, The Engine Room at The Exchange, provides a creative multi-purpose learning studio for all. Designed as a functional art classroom, digital studio, and social space to gather, the Engine Room is equipped with blended digital functionality, enabling us to work with participant’s in-person and joining from remote locations. Through this new resource, we are able to sustain tested and valuable programmes such as Tea, Cake and Art, a creative social group for those living alone or with anxiety and our Teachers Collective, formed of teachers from schools across the county.
