MAKE & MYTH: THE WITCH OF TREWEY

SUMMER CRAFT SESSIONS

WEEKLY SESSIONS IN AUGUST LED BY ARTIST AND EDUCATOR MAYA RONCHETTI FOR 6 – 11 YR OLDS

Each session will begin with a Cornish myth followed by a craft activity relating to the themes of the tale. Children are encouraged to bring their imagination, wear old clothes, and be open to the magic. Each session will be based around a poem written by Adrian Rodda; a Cornish poet who writes poems based on local folk tales and Cornish myths.

THE WITCH OF TREWEY

The Witch of Trewey is a story about a respected healer woman who dies, but while she’s being buried in the church yard at Trewey (a hamlet in Zennor Parish) she transforms into a flying creature that was part ‘hare, pig, goat, ape and demon’. In this workshop, Maya will read the poem The Witch of Trewey by Adrian Rodda and the children will make masks inspired by the creature that the healer woman became. There will be cutting and sticking of recycled materials, paper mache and paint!

Children are advised to wear old clothes.

£10 per person, all materials provided. To book please email Maya at [email protected]
